The Ukrainian-German soprano Kateryna Kasper is distinguished by her stylistic versatility in opera, oratorio, and song. She regularly performs at leading opera houses, concert halls, and festivals worldwide, and is acclaimed for her nuanced interpretations and and exceptional expressive artistry. Her repertoire ranges from the oratorios and Passions of Bach to works by Handel, Mozart, and Strauss, as well as the symphonies of Mahler. It also includes works by Haydn, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Poulenc, and Henze, alongside an extensive Romantic song repertoire.
Among her recent highlights are her role debuts as Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare by Handel and as Micaëla in Carmen by Bizet at Oper Frankfurt, her UK operatic debut as Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande by Debussy at Longborough Festival Opera, as well as performances as Elettra in Idomeneo by Mozart and as Arianna in Il Giustino by Vivaldi with the Freiburger Barockorchester, including appearances at the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Further engagements have taken her to the Salzburger Festspiele, where she performed as soprano I soloist in Mass in C minor by Mozart. She also sang Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival under the baton of Jaap van Zweden.
In the upcoming season, Kateryna Kasper will make her debut at the Theater an der Wien as Armida in a new production of Rinaldo by Handel, conducted by Francesco Corti and directed by Nadja Loschky. Other highlights include Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno by Handel with the Freiburger Barockorchester under René Jacobs at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, the programme Queen Christina’s World with the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra and Cecilia Bernardini in Helsinki and Riga, a chamber music programme featuring works by Mozart and Gluck in Santiago de Compostela, as well as a New Year’s concert with arias by Mozart and Haydn with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.
