A musical-literary Soirée – The Magic Flute – part II

The Magic Flute – part II

As part of the Frankfurt Goethe Festwoche 2018
A musical-literary Soirée - a joint project between Oper Frankfurt and Schauspiel Frankfurt

What happens after the closing scene in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte? Does Sarastro continue to rule? Are Tamino and Pamina happy? The question about what happens next was already posed shortly after Mozart’s death, in 1791: Johann Wolfgang Goethe began his work on Der Zauberflöte Part II, in 1795 but stopped writing it three years later– other artists including Emanuel Schikaneder, the composer Peter von Winter and writer Scherm were also fascinated about what might have happened next. Readings of excerpts from Goethe sketches and texts will be accompanied by numbers by Peter von Winter.

Kateryna Kasper (soprano), Peter Marsh (tenor), Anne Larlee (piano) and actors from Schauspiel Frankfurt’s ensemble.
